Title: A TRIP TO LONDON (Unit 9)

Level: Third cycle (Y6)

Topic:  Urban areas: buildings, monuments, services, shops, transport…

Didactic main aim: To extend the pupils’ communicative competence by learning the most relevant social and cultural aspects of the English speaking countries studying the heart of the English culture: London.

Vocabulary: price, zoo, park, amusement park, train station, gas station, police station, pool, library, bookshop, toyshop, toy store, restaurant, supermarket,  ... // eat, buy, borrow... // expensive, cheap, cheaper than, the cheapest...

Linguistic structures: ? I play in the park. // I borrow books from the library. // I watch movies at the cinema // I swim in the pool // I mail a letter at the post office // I eat at a restaurant // I learn a lot at school // I buy food at the supermarket // I buy toys at the toy store // I catch a train at the train station...

Socio-cultural aspects: The students will learn the most important monumental buildings and touristic attractions in the city of London.

Resources: Written and oral descriptions, internet links, the written lyrics of the song of this unit, and videos.

Timing: 7 sessions (45 minutes each one).
