Title: A TRIP TO THE ARCTIC OCEAN (Unit 5)

Level: Third cycle (Y6)

Topic:  Arctic and subarctic areas in Canada and Alaska.

Didactic main aim: To extend the pupils’ communicative competence by learning interesting geological facts about the north pole, the arctic and subarctic areas.

Vocabulary: North Pole, South Pole, icebergs, northern lights... // get warm, freeze... // cold, freezing...

Linguistic structures: Where does a polar bear live? // What's an iceberg? // Can you describe it?...

Socio-cultural aspects: The students will learn geological phenomena of the Arctic and Antarctic regions and how to explain them.

Resources: Written and oral descriptions, internet links, the written lyrics of the song of this unit, and videos.

Timing: 7 sessions (45 minutes each one).



SESSION 1 (LISTENING)
a. Warm-up activities: Guess what it is! (10 minutes)
